OPINION: Top 5 Songs From Omah Lay’s “Boy Alone”

Omah Lay’s debut album, “Boy Alone” has been out since last Friday and it’s the number one album in the country now.

There’s no doubt, the kid got a way with the music and yeah, he’s pretty good. The album, which has received mixed reviews from critics, is sure to become a fan favorite because of Omah Lay’s knack for those melodies.

There’s still a lot to unpack from this one and as time goes on, I believe we will start to have more appreciation for what he did. But at the moment, these are the five songs I am feeling the most from the album.

1. Bend You

This song is essentially the end of “Ye Ye Ye” supremacy. It means yet again, Omah Lay has done a jam that oozes sex as opposed to just an innuendo.

Bend You” has an irresistible melody that could easily become the next big viral tune.

2. Woman

He had released this one a while back before the album release. The third single from the album, “Woman” is simply an Afrobeat love number. Nothing more.

Woman” is already a hit on the streets and the airwaves, and but for some explicit lyrics, this is the kind of song you’d hear at weddings. It’s got that appeal really.

3. Attention ft. Justin Bieber

Attention” is a real bop. It ain’t all that Afrobeats, although I guess that classification would work and the beat’s got groove anyway, so it doesn’t really matter. The song was quite the hit too.

4. Understand

This was the first single from the album and Omah Lay’s most impressive single in a while.

Understand” is like the part two of his 2020 smash hit, “Bad Influence.” It even has the same subject; heartbreak. All in all, a good song.

5. Soso

Soso” is one of those songs with spiritual vibes that can instantly take you into a trance if you’re on some psychedelics.

On the album, it stands out as the song with one of Omah Lay’s hardest performances.

Well, that’s it for me.
